LO3/LO4: Gemini Films Campaign

 Gemini Films are an independent film company based in the UK. The company wants to promote the opening of its new film ‘In Static’. The genre of the film is a gritty thriller with a BBFC certification of 15. The film will be released in July 2023. The film is expected to generate interest from a variety of TV magazines and review websites because the lead actor is soap star ‘Harry Sparkie’. The narrative is centred on friendship and homelessness. Gemini Films wants to promote the film six months before the release. The trailer is complete. 

6* Develop a social media campaign for the opening of the film ‘In Static’.   

In your campaign you must include the following aspects: 

  • Timescales, milestones and review dates
  • Channels used to reach the audience
  • Content plan

  • Client (business or service) Their name will influence what the social media handles and pages to post to will be called. It will be something like @GeminiFilms.
  • Location - UK, tells us the target audience that you will have to appeal to.
  • New film - Post trailers, posters, behind the scenes clips and photos, interviews to attract audience because it's a new film. Because it's a film, use a lot of visuals (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram). Live streams of things like interviews.
  • Title - In Static - Can be used in titles, captions, social media handles. Can be used for hashtags to start trends and gain a larger audience.
  • BBFC Rating of 15 tells you about the target audience and what social media channels to use that they will most likely be using, like Instagram, YouTube, TikTok. Use 3-4 social media channels
  • Genre - Gritty Thriller - blacks, dark reds. Dictate visuals and how they look. Denote house style. Be specific e.g. specific colours
  • Release Date - July 2023 - Target audience will be off school, using social media more                 You always start campaign 6 months before release
  • 6 months before: Begin in early January as you won't be able to gain attention over Christmas
  • Don't care about budget, go big e.g. competitions for things like tickets to premiere. Creates audience loyalty. Rewards audience.
  • Lead actor - Harry Sparkie - Use for interviews, hashtags, tag in posts. His audience see it and enlarges the film's audience.
  • 'Centered on friendship and homelessness' - Partner with a homelessness charity Folksonomy - As many options for the audience to get involved as possible.
  • Channels used to reach the audience - Social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, TikTok etc.)
